Our night out at Perch was such fun. The Dark & Stormy was particularly potent, and the Raspberry Mule was perfect for a soldier with a ripe case of scurvy. Yay lemon juice! I had a great salad with green apples and cheddar cheese, and Aaron discovered the joys of panko bread crumbs. (We were there first, and pretty much in our cups by the time everyone else showed up, so I have no idea what anyone else ate.)
After Perch closed (last call's at 10:30 kiddies, so don't plan your late night here) we dispersed our separate ways. However, those of us dispersing southwards ended up at Commonwealth for a last drink that turned into several last rounds. I must say, the $5 Moscow Mule with the spicy ginger ale treated me right. Even the next morning. Though I did make sure to take vitamin B and drink lots of water.
Highlights of the evening were:
- An ongoing inquiry into "Who exactly is buying houses/apartments in NYC?" (subtext: "...because it's certainly not us.")
- Marat gave us an interesting theory on the function of the liver.
- Jamie and Jamie discussed the eternal question, "How does one go about making money as a musician?"
- Sarah told us about her possible relocation to Turkey as an ESL teacher.
- Jose called Jamie (me) a Hub, which is so flattering. (see Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point)
- An increasingly profane discussion of mangina took place at Commonwealth. None of the parties in question will be able to give a clear account if pressed for details. Those wondering what mangina is...
