May 21st - The Dram Shop

Our night out at The Dram Shop was great fun. The service was a bit spotty, but the bar was pretty busy so it made sense. The fried mac and cheese...wow. Where to even begin? It was fried. It was good. So good that I forgot to get a picture. Highlight of the night was probably the impromptu Connect 4 tournament. Many insults and injuries were traded over those little yellow plastic frames. The victors were not gracious. It was awesome! As Diane feared, I will be noting the most interesting conversations...that I had. You may of course add your own:
  • Katie and Jamie met because her brother was in a band with Jamie, who is a bassist (If i remember correctly. If not, correct me). They both had just finished a long term relationship and weren't looking for anything. Congrats to Katie and Jamie on the longest mutual rebound relationship ever! Two years and going strong.
  • Adam refused to believe that Robbie was not going to LSU, despite all evidence to the contrary. Also, he later asserted that he will stop speaking to her if she goes to Ole Miss, though the freeze-out will end in 2009 when he needs a futon to crash on for the LSU/Ole Miss game.
  • Diane and I remembered that I didn't mention the amazing tarot card reader from Florida that she spoke to on the phone many years ago. I think that the time for that story may have passed, but I had to mention it anyways.
  • Diane is the newest singer in our ever-growing band. Current members include: Adam, Jamie, Robbie, Diane, my friend Brian who doesn't know it yet, and a sad little xylophone that Robbie refuses to play because she thinks it's lame. I will be multitasking on the piano, vocals, and a triangle. Rawk. The working band name is Magnolina. This is still up for debate.
The rest of the pictures from last night may be viewed here in my new Slopers' Night Out Flickr set.

For the record, I'm 3-3 at Connect Four.
